About the Kurdistan Social Democratic Party

The Kurdistan Social Democratic Party continues its legacy of struggle and sacrifice for the land of Kurdistan and the rights of the Kurdish people.

The Kurdistan Social Democratic Party (K.S.D.P) is the inheritor of a rich history and identity that began in 1976. As a national and popular party, it has played a pivotal role in the political, military, and revolutionary movements of Kurdistan throughout its history.

Throughout its history, it has stood against the oppressive policies imposed on the Kurdish people. In the most challenging times, it endured the martyrdom of leaders such as Saleh Abdulrahman Najmadin, known as Saleh Yousif, along with many comrades, while remaining steadfast in its struggle to achieve its goals.

Our Historical Journey

From our emergence as the socialist movement of Kurdistan to becoming the Kurdistan Social Democratic Party (K.S.D.P), our journey spans decades of struggle, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to the Kurdish people.

1976

Emerged as the socialist movement of Kurdistan, announcing its declaration publicly.

08/08/1979

Founding conference held in the village of Goresher, called Socialist Party - Unity of Kurdistan.

12/05/1981

First congress changed the party's name to the Kurdistan Socialist Party.

15/11/1994

Second congress changed the name to the Kurdistan Social Democratic Party.

05/03/2022

Seventh congress changed the name to Kurdistan Social Democratic Party (K.S.D.P).

04/04/2024

Eighth Congress endorsed the Internal Policy and Political Program.

The Kurdistan Social Democratic Party (KSDP) is struggling to achieve the following goals in the political field:

Right to Self-Determination

Achieving the right to self-determination of the Kurdish people.

Territorial Integrity

Consolidating the geographical and historical borders of Kurdistan and the return of Kirkuk, Khanaqin, and the Kurdish areas outside the Kurdistan Regional Government to the Kurdistan Region.

National Unity

Unification of the national and national struggle for Kurdistan's independence.

Peaceful Coexistence

Peaceful coexistence of all communities in Kurdistan.

Legacy of Sacrifice

In this path, many leaders, hundreds of cadres, and thousands of Peshmerga sacrificed their lives for the land of Kurdistan, leading the movement to the 1991 uprising, which resulted in the liberation of a large part of Iraqi Kurdistan and the establishment of governmental and political institutions of the Kurdistan Region, including the Parliament and the Regional Government.
